Job Overview :

We seek a COBOL Developer with Raincode expertise to work on legacy system modernization projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transactional processing applications and legacy code transformation. This role requires a deep understanding of COBOL-based architectures, the ability to derive business logic from legacy systems, and proficiency in decision modeling and rules engines. Key Responsibilities :

Legacy System Modernization:

Analyze, extract, and document business logic from COBOL-based legacy applications.
Re-engineer and migrate transactional programs into decision models using rules engines or Decision Modeling Notation (DMN).
Enhance the maintainability, scalability, and efficiency of legacy systems while ensuring minimal business disruption.

Development & Optimization:

Work extensively with Raincode tools for seamless modernization of legacy applications.
Optimize transactional processing systems for better performance, security, and compliance.
Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing systems while collaborating with technical and business teams.

Collaboration & Documentation:

Partner with business analysts, architects, and stakeholders to ensure seamless legacy-to-modern transition.
Maintain detailed documentation for extracted business rules, code migration, and transformation strategies.
Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to other team members.

Required Skills & Expertise :

COBOL Development – Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience with COBOL, PL/1, Assembler, or RPG in transaction-heavy applications.
Legacy System Experience – Experience working on mainframes (AS400, Unix, Linux, Windows, or other legacy platforms).
Raincode Knowledge – Strong understanding and hands-on experience with Raincode compiler and transformation tools.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills – Ability to analyze complex legacy codebases and derive business logic efficiently.
Communication & Teamwork – Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams.

Preferred (Good to Have) Skills :

Business Rule Programming – Experience in business rule engines and rule-based programming.
Low-Code/No-Code Platforms – Familiarity with platforms like Outsystems, Mendix, or Wavemaker.
Pre-Relational Database Experience –Knowledge of IDMS, Datacom, Adabas, or other 4th-generation languages.
Modernization Strategies – Exposure to legacy migration strategies and experience working on enterprise transformation projects.
